Streetside Terrace

This is a project to convert a cafeteria into a new meeting space connected with the adjacent “community house.” We treat this new space as an open terrace along the street, allowing people to access casually and enjoy chance encounters with the passersby. In order to minimize energy consumption, we insert into the existing structure a green house atrium that provides heat in winter, and ventilasiotn in summer. This new urban terrace enhances communication and encounter, providing a much needed livelness in this small provincial town.

食堂を、隣接するコミュニティハウスとつながる、新たな出会いを生み出すテラスにリノベーションする提案。道に沿い、開いたテラスにすることで、人々が気軽に立ち寄り、出会いを楽しむことができる。既存の構造の中央に温室を挿入し、自然エネルギーを利用し環境に配慮する空間では、夏には換気を、冬には暖かい日差しを取り入れることができる。新しい道沿いのテラスによって新しい活動が生み出され、町に活気と交流をもたらしていく。
