We are pleased to announce that we have exhibited our "Bamboo marché" in "Tokyo Biennale 2020/2021" TINY HOUSE FESTIVAL 2021 Art Project. This is the official website (Japanese only):

https://tb2020.jp/ongoing/tinyhousefestival2021/

This pavilion is a collaboration between Studiolab at Keio University, Toki Lab at the University of Shiga Prefecture, and Okazaki Lab at the Shibaura Institute of Technology. It is one of the projects that we have been carrying out in Minamiashigara (Kanagawa Prefecture). We used  bamboo to create a light-weight structure buildable in a shor period of time to perform different events with the residents. Bamboo is abundant in the local forests, but most of them are not maintained anymore and have been left in a state of abandonment. We hope to trigger new ideas on how to use bamboo, a traditional material that has been neglected nowadays.

TINY HOUSE FESTIVAL 2021 was held at TOKYO TORCH Park for three days from October 29 (Fri.) to 31 (Sun.), 2021. At the exhibition, we proposed a way of architecture that allows visitors to think about and realize their "desired life" on a human scale in response to diversifying individual needs and social changes. The exhibition was enjoyed by many people, including office workers, families raising children, and students, as well as those interested in living in tiny houses.

We appreciate the guidance and cooperation of everyone who participated in the bamboo marché, especially the Minamiashigara’s residents and city hall . You can find a video of the marché of August 29th here:

We hope that our collaboration with the residents will bear much more fruit in the future. Please stay tuned for future events and news!
